The First-Time Homebuyer’s Checklist – Your Roadmap to Buying in 2025

Buying your first home is exciting, but it can feel overwhelming. Without the right preparation, it’s easy to make mistakes that could delay or even prevent your homeownership dreams. That’s why I’ve created this simple checklist to guide you through the process step by step.

✅ Check Your Credit Score

A good credit score helps you qualify for better loan terms. Aim for at least a 620, but the higher, the better.

✅ Set a Realistic Budget

Use a mortgage calculator to estimate your monthly payments and make sure they fit within your income.

✅ Start Saving for a Down Payment

Some loan programs allow as little as 3-5% down, but the more you save, the better your financial position.

✅ Get Pre-Approved for a Loan

A lender will review your finances and give you a pre-approval letter, which shows sellers you’re a serious buyer.

✅ Find a Real Estate Agent

An experienced agent (like me! 😉) will guide you through the process, negotiate on your behalf, and help you avoid common pitfalls.

✅ Make a Smart Offer

Work with your agent to submit a competitive offer based on market conditions and comparable sales.
